Thank you for your interest in Community Women Against Hardship (CWAH), serving the St. Louis community for over 35 years.

Founded in 1988 by Gloria Taylor and Betty Lee, CWAH was built on their vision and commitment to supporting families in need. Over the past three decades, their legacy has impacted nearly 10,000 families by providing hope, resources, advocacy, and practical solutions to poverty challenges.

CWAH stands out for its focus on addressing the root causes of poverty and helping individuals and families achieve stability, self-sufficiency, and opportunity.

Today, CWAH remains dedicated to its mission. As our community evolves, the need for compassionate and effective services continues. We are committed to meeting this need with resilience and determination.

With a small two-person staff, meeting the diverse needs of our families is challenging. However, CWAH benefits from a dedicated network of volunteer leaders and community partners. Our Board of Directors, Ambassadors, local organizations, church communities, volunteers, and students from St. Louis University and the University of Missouri–St. Louis generously support our mission.

I am honored to work alongside Leigha Tillman, Family Coordinator and Administrative Assistant, to continue our founders' work. Together, we commit to providing personalized services and strengthening programs that support women, children, and families in our community.
